The global education market’s attention is now focused on South Korea’s educational technology product, ‘ARpedia,’ which has received the ‘CES Innovation Award’ for two consecutive years. Following its expansion into 14 regions including the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan, the product’s distinct competitive edge is now being recognized in various countries. This has been further solidified by the recent exclusive supply agreement with Taiwanese company ‘Studio A’ for the Chinese-Speaking Market, enhancing its differentiated competitiveness.

ARpedia, developed by South Korea’s leading educational technology company Woongjin Thinkbig Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee, Jae-jin), is an ‘interactive book’ that employs augmented reality (AR) technology to bring characters and illustrations from within the book to life, offering users a three-dimensional reading experience. Released first in South Korea, it rapidly gained traction with sales of over 200,000 sets and more than 6 million individual copies, proving its market viability. Simultaneously, its presence in the global market has also grown significantly. With a recent licensing agreement that was established with Walt Disney Korea, further enhancing its content competitiveness, enabling it to resonate across various international markets.

Following its export to countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, ARpedia achieved another milestone in July by signing an exclusive supply agreement for the Greater Chinese market with Taiwanese Apple premium reseller company ‘Studio A.’ Notably, this contract employs a ‘minimum guarantee’ approach, ensuring an annual minimum sales revenue of over 10 billion KRW. The significance lies in Studio A’s swift decision to enter into this agreement, indicating their strong confidence in the differentiated technological prowess and educational effectiveness of ARpedia. After recognizing the distinct capabilities and educational impact of ARpedia, Studio A moved quickly to secure this contract, projecting success in the Chinese-Speaking Market.

Studio A is a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Foxlink Group, a company associated with Foxconn, and is responsible for supplying educational devices to over 4,000 schools within Taiwan. Additionally, it operates Apple stores directly in regions such as Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Leveraging its robust network and local infrastructure in Taiwan and China, Studio A intends to distribute ARpedia throughout the Greater Chinese region.

Currently, ARpedia is actively engaged in discussions for export contracts with businesses from a diverse range of regions, including Asian countries like Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and India, as well as other regions such as South Africa and Israel. With these ongoing negotiations, the prospects for further international success are anticipated to expand, solidifying its presence abroad.
